When Angle About Angle Iron Rolled Leg Out

When bending  about angle iron rolled leg out, angle rolled leg in should be specified by the OD of the ring for most cases since there are two ID’s of the ring; the ID of the easy way leg and the ID of the hard way leg. If the ID of the hardway leg Is the critical dimension,  custom roll your ring accordingly.

Heel out custom rolled angle should be specified by the outside diameter.
Heel in angle should be specified by the inside diameter.

The common type of curved structural steel is angle steel ring or angle steel flange. The angle steel ring, usually made of carbon steel, stainless steel or aluminum, is made by rolling a structural angle steel into a ring and then welding its two ends together.

Usually, the ring is rolled so that its horizontal legs radiate outward from the center to form a so-called “leg out angle iron ring” (as opposed to “leg in angle iron ring” or “off-axis” angle iron ring) .

These rings are usually made to standard diameters, but can also be made to custom specifications. They are used as flanges for connecting pipes or connecting devices such as fans. The flanges can be welded together or fixed with bolts. In the latter case, the angle iron flange is again provided with bolt holes of standard sizes and positions or special patterns.

The holes can be angled in the following ways: drilling, drilling through mechanical or hydraulic presses, or drilling or drilling through automated equipment. In order to make the connection, it is important not only to locate the holes with the correct bolt circle and spacing, but also that the bolt circle is concentric with the corner ring.

Large-angle rings can be made by connecting ring segments. The ring segment is rolled and usually cut to length, and then assembled into a complete ring before being inserted into the hole. The holes can be drilled or punched. After putting it in the hole, you can transport the ring as it is or take it apart again. In the latter case, the ends to be connected will usually match the markings for reassembly. This method is sometimes needed when the finished ring is too large to be shipped.
